- Where did you hang out with friends when you were a teen?
I mostly hung out with friends at school between activities. I was very dedicated to my high school's theater department, so I would hang out there through both rehearsals and through all of the crew work. The proximity to the JROTC department is one of the reasons I met my husband.
- Where do you hang out with friends now that you're in your twenties?
Mostly, we hang out at each other's homes. Without a ton of money to go out, we tend to stay in. We've had people over to our place a few times, and we have been lucky to live with some great people who make finding someone to hang out with very easy. My husband and I tend to take our dog out for walks. We've been doing it for years, and it is one of my favorite activities that we share. Otherwise we'll hang out at my mom's house or at my in-laws place.
- Where do you imagine you’ll hang out with friends when you’re older?
We'll probably do very similar things when we're older too. Otherwise, that will be determined by what our kids are doing and what activities we are involved in.
- What great hanging-out memories do you have?
Well, yesterday I went bowling for a friends birthday with a bunch of friends and his one and a half year old. That was a blast! Otherwise, watching movies in friends' basements. My husband and I categorize movies based on whose basement we would be most likely to watch it in. He and I have also started watching movies on weekends in our little basement: we'll take the bed out of the pull out couch, order a pizza, and just settle in.
- What ingredient makes hanging out better some times than others?
When everyone can let go of their pride and treat everyone well. It's easier said than done, but when it happens, it's like magic. Also, when the people around are all people I feel comfortable being open and honest with about everything going on or when they can understand what I mean when my words don't match.
Sorry I skipped last week, folks! This week, I'm going to go through places to hang out.
