I'm not even sure I can accurately describe why this is up there. The style of humor definitely cracks me up, and I love to see such strong female roles (because, let's be honest, Carla and Jordan pretty much run the show). I'm not huge on how the men necessarily treat the women, but with such strong characters, it seems more real to me.
This is definitely a newer show - it has two seasons under its belt, but it is absolutely fantastic. Again, strong character roles, diverse interactions, and several different storylines playing out at once. It's kind of amazing, and I watch it with my mom.
How I Met Your Mother:
My sister got me into this one, and I mostly think its hilarious. My sister has also decided that she is basically the character Ted. After seeing how this past year has played out, I'm inclined to agree with her. In reference to the character Barney: most people hate him, but he's designed that way. He is a very harsh character, but throughout the show, he softens quite a bit. He also is the one who causes most of the action. My main argument for Barney: it'd be pretty boring without him.
Star Trek: Voyager:
There, I said it. I think it's a fabulous show. It's different from the others in many ways that aren't seen on the surface (female captian/Intrepid class ship go without saying): The characters grow more over the course of this series than any other, partially due to the nature of their travels through uncharted territory. Despite almost complete isolation, there is a very clear goal to the series: to get home. Every other series is there for the purpose of order and exploration - being stranded threw that out the window and made the overall task very clear and completely unique.
I'm not going to lie, this is hands down my favorite show. I challenge people to sit through one episode without laughing at least once. The one-liners and digs they take at each other are so funny that I can't even describe it. But after living with three other girls, I can't help falling in love with watching another group of four.
