Check out more after the jump!
That's definitely the idea behind the change, even if it's not a major change from what I've been doing. There will still be some anecdotal posts - like the ones from New York - but I'm hopeful that the new definition will help me keep things centered.
So, in my craft blogging hiatus, I've been making a dragon! It's my first experimentation with legs, ears, and wings. I haven't been able to crack into my orange quite as much as I would have hoped, so this experiment seemed to fit what I wanted and what needed pretty well! The red touches are from a frogged project too, so I'm also glad to get to reuse some of the things I didn't have a need for.
I've never really done something with legs... okay, turtles have legs, and octopuses have arms, but these were different. With a turtle, the legs are attached in assembly, and the arms for an octopus are mostly just tubes.
So, the dragon let me experiment with how to crochet flanks. I'm glad to be able to see how to connect legs and be able to play around with how to connect pieces differently.
The wings and the back ridges were simply fun. The technique was easy enough on both, but they added just the right touches to make it perfect.
There it is! New experiments with crochet animals and a new direction for the website. I'm definitely glad to see where things will go with this, and I'm excited to be done with my first dragon. I'm still contemplating what else I can add for some new material, so if there are any ideas or insights, just let me know!
