These hood scarves were made for a family as Valentine's Day gifts. I made three, and I was able to create two different sizes.
I made the adult one first, and I chose a sophisticated color palette with rich purple, gray, and white. For the two made for the kids - one in adult size, and one in youth - I chose to do very bright colors in pink and purple with gray trim.
I used a few different stitches to achieve a cohesive and interesting design. I started with stockinette stitch for the scarf sections, and highlighted the trim color in with reverse stockinette around the color changes. The hood section is done with garter stitch to accentuate the color changes in the hood.
To cap it off, I switched skills from knit to crochet. In an area that is not easily seen, I added a subtle trim in a very thin crochet stitch to hide all my raw ends and give it a finished appearance.
