After working on my ocean inspired sleeves, I felt compelled to create a variation on my shark by adding a hammerhead version. I've made hammerheads before in doing amigurumi crochet, and I featured a hammerhead in my "Keep Swimming" painting. This felt like a natural extension of that.
The challenge came in featuring the biological features of the hammerhead. I decided to show the shape of the head from a posterior angle to really accentuate its shape; I also needed to show the caudal (tail) fin in profile. So, my big challenge was adding a quarter turn to its body without losing anything that makes these species truly unique.
