For my leap day tutorial, I'm going over the last of the four basic knitting elements: the cast off. I'm very excited to be able to share the basics! And luckily, this is one of the easiest - but most time consuming - elements to knitting.
| Step One: Knit 2 stitches.
| Step Two: insert left needle into the first stitch (the stitch on the back) on the right needle.

| Step Three: Slip the back stitch over the tip of the right needle while keeping the front stitch on the right needle. The back stitch should wrap around the front.
| Step Four: Knit 1, and repeat steps two and three for the next stitch and for all stitches until there is only one remaining. Pull the end of the yarn through the remaining stitch and cut the end!

So, that's it! In process, it seems easy as long as the stitches stay loose on the needle, but since it is essentially adding an extra step it does take a little more time than a normal row.
These four tutorials for the month of February are the foundation for doing all knits.
